Avatr Technology Accelerates Hong Kong IPO Plan, Aims for 2026 Listing
Chinese premium EV maker Avatr Technology — backed by automotive giant Changan, battery leader CATL, and tech powerhouse Huawei — is finalizing preparations for its Hong Kong IPO, with plans to submit the application as early as October 2025 and complete the listing by Q2 2026.
The company, which completed a RMB 11.1 billion Series C funding round in December 2024, has been working with CICC and CITIC Securities as joint sponsors. While earlier plans pointed to a 2026 timeline, the process has now accelerated, signaling strong confidence in Avatr’s growth trajectory and market positioning.
-
Why Avatr Stands Out in the Crowded EV Market
-
Unique Tripartite Model: Avatr leverages Changan’s manufacturing expertise, CATL’s battery technology, and Huawei’s intelligent driving and Harmony cockpit solutions — creating a differentiated “CHN” platform.
-
Rising Sales Momentum: The brand has surpassed 150,000 cumulative deliveries, with monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units in late 2024 and maintaining strength into 2025.
-
Global Ambitions: Avatr aims to enter over 50 international markets in 2025, with a long-term goal of selling 400,000 vehicles globally by 2027.
-
Not Just Another EV IPO
-
Avatr’s listing comes amid a wave of Chinese NEV makers seeking capital for global expansion — including Chery and Lotus Tech, which recently filed for Hong Kong listings. As a player in the competitive ¥250,000+ segment, Avatr’s success will depend on its ability to scale globally while balancing R&D investment and profitability.
-
The company targets breakeven by late 2025, which — if achieved — could make it one of the few loss-making EV startups to reach financial sustainability ahead of its IPO.
With strong backing, clear technology partnerships, and a focus on the premium segment, Avatr represents an interesting case of collaboration between traditional automakers, tech firms, and battery giants. Its IPO will be a key test of investor appetite for hybrid business models in the EV space.
